Commissioning a Custom Portrait:
Something about a painted portrait or any subject matter tells you that someone is loved enough that a much time and investment was made in remembering them forever in a beautiful way. A painting is different from a photograph with the texture, color palette and brushstrokes that just say “heirloom.”
You can commission Colleen to paint a subject matter as a vase of flowers, a landscape, or a portrait of a loved one and even a family pet. Using photographs you supply or the photos Colleen takes during a session, she will create a custom personal piece of artwork through her choice of brush strokes, colors, composition and texture.
Photographs:
You may either send a high-resolution digital image by e-mail or contact her for further information. All photographs that belong to the client will be returned unharmed upon completion. Providing more than one image is extremely helpful and gives the artist the opportunity to study the subject from many different perspectives. There is no need to be troubled with a background that is less than desirable. She has the ability to create a painting with incredible results by eliminating anything that is distracting to the client’s wishes. All photos are kept in strict confidence, and are for my use only in creating the final painting. No photos can or will be displayed or published without written consent of the person whose image is in the photograph.
A highly skilled and tedious process begins with the basic design and composition. Colleen makes a series of quick sketches and once she is satisfied with an overall image, the painting starts to evolve. With supple blending of colors and rich textures, she achieves an original hand-painted work of art. The gallery wrapped canvas has a 3/4" or 1-1/2" stretcher bar frame. Please allow at least three to four weeks for completion. The portrait is not complete until client approves a final proof that will be emailed to them. We are in a revolutionary period in art that it will forever be changed because of what we’re doing now. Colleen interprets her subject in a way that only she would interpret it, still genuine and real.
